This wedding day gives me all the feels! Having the honor to document someone’s wedding is already so special, and when the bride is one of my favorite people in the world, it makes it that much better! Kelly and I have been good friends since freshmen year at Bates College. We played softball together and were both Psych majors. Needless to say we spent a lot of time together in college and then after college, our paths continued to be intertwined! Actually, as it turns out, Kelly pretty much paved the way for me and I just kind of followed her! After graduating from college, Kelly became an assistant field hockey and softball coach at MIT. When I told her one day that I missed coaching, she said the softball coach at MIT was actually looking for another assistant, so she put me in touch with her. The next thing I knew, I signed on to be an assistant softball coach at MIT for the next 3 years, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life! (Thanks Kel!)

For a few years after college, Kelly had a job at Kennedy Day School at Franciscan’s Hospital for Children working with children who had significant needs and required specialized services. This was around the same time where I was trying to find my place in the world and decided that I wanted to try to get into teaching. I applied for a job at Kennedy Hope Academy, which was a residential program for children who had severe autism and it was also located at Franciscan’s Hospital! Although I only worked at Kennedy Hope Academy for about 8 months before I transitioned to public school teaching, it was the job that allowed me the opportunity to take on a 3-month photography internship so I could start pursuing photography seriously. It is also where I became friends with some amazing colleagues, 3 of which are now past and future LDP brides and grooms! (Thanks again Kel!)

We both lived in Brighton and sometimes I’d run into her on Commonwealth Avenue when she’d be driving her scooter around (which I went with her to pick out and test drive years prior)! I actually ran into Andrew (Shick) at the TD Bank in Brighton a few days before he was planning on proposing to Kelly and he mentioned that they would be contacting me about wedding photography in a few weeks! So when Kelly reached out shortly thereafter, it was a dream come true!! Kelly and Shick are such a special couple and having known them all throughout college, it was such a joy not only to be able to document their love on their wedding day, but also to be there to celebrate with them as well! These two are the definition of true love, meant to be together forever and I’m beyond thrilled to share my favorite pictures from their day!

But first, about their wedding day! For starters, the Mount Washington Hotel is a gorgeous venue! The hotel is unreal and I already can’t wait until I get another opportunity to photograph a wedding there! Even though it rained and was extremely windy the entire morning of Kelly and Shick’s wedding day, the sun came out right before their ceremony! The ceremony had already been moved inside, but we were able to go outside after the ceremony for all the family formals, wedding party pictures, and my favorite, the bride and groom portraits. Because I know Kelly and Shick so well, I know they don’t love having their picture taken, even though they’re a beautiful couple! (see their engagement session). But I LOVE the portraits we captured of these two love birds both with the hotel in the background and the ones with just the smallest bit of Mount Washington showing. These are definitely some of my favorite B&G portraits to-date!

The entire day was so much fun to be a part of! It felt like a mini 5-year Bates College reunion seeing so many of my classmates before our actual 5-year reunion, which is in a little over weeks from today! I’m so excited to share all of my favorite images with everyone! All vendors are included at the very bottom! And special thanks to Paul for capturing so many great shots from the day and being the best second shooter a photographer could ask for! 🙂
