I love being able to share in all of my couples’ joy on their wedding day, but Bates weddings hold a near and dear spot in my heart! And being able to photograph THREE Bates weddings this year has been such an honor! I think it’s because not only did I enjoy my academic and athletic career there so much, but my time at Bates also introduced me to so many amazing people both while I was a student at Bates and post-graduation. So when Jenny reached out to photographer her wedding day to her Bates College sweetheart, Matt, whom she met during their orientation week freshman year, I couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of their celebration!
Even though Jenny, Matt, and I didn’t know each other well while we were all at Bates at the same time, I was so excited when I had the opportunity to get to know them better during their engagement session at Fort Williams Park in Maine last summer! (One of the many reasons I love engagement sessions!) I met their ADORABLE golden retriever puppy, Bunker, and even though Bunker couldn’t make it to their wedding day, he was still there in spirit because Jenny gave Matt custom cufflinks with pictures of their pup and his Grandfather inside of them. It was such a sweet gift!!
Jenny and Matt were married on a beautiful Maine day in the prettiest church I think I’ve ever been to! The high ceilings, gorgeous stained glass, and white marble everywhere were all really breathtaking. They had their reception at The Woodlands Club and we were able to use their golf carts to zip around to all the best portrait locations! There were so many spots all along the golf course that were so beautiful and from the photos, you never would’ve known we were just feet away from the 14th hole to the point where I was nervous I was going to get hit by someone teeing off! The evening ended with an epic dance party and even Matt’s grandmother was out on the dance floor with her walker! It was such a joy to be a part of this day, capturing love that started all the way back to Jenny and Matt’s first week of freshman year in Smith hallway! 🙂
