These two Bates College sweethearts tied the knot the first weekend of July with a beautiful backyard wedding in Duxbury and it was the best day! Bates weddings are always my favorite to photograph and I can’t wait to photograph two more next year! I loved my time at Bates so much, so any time I get to share my passion with people who also went there makes my heart so happy. Plus, I love seeing my friends and teammates again. Being able to hang out with them all day is a dream come true!
From the first phone call I had with Kelsey to chat about her wedding day, I was so excited about her and Mark’s vision for their backyard wedding in Duxbury. Kelsey’s neighbor, who is also a Bobcat and is 95 years old, had the perfect backyard to hold the tent for their reception and graciously let us all celebrate these two Bates College sweethearts on her lawn! Kelsey and Mark had their ceremony just a few steps away from the reception at Myles Standish Homestead where Kelsey’s parents were also married 35 years ago! Kelsey’s bridesmaids all wore cute white summer dresses that they each picked out on their own and I absolutely loved this idea. None of Kelsey’s bridesmaids had ever seen her dress before and the reveal was one of my favorite photos from the whole day!
There were so many personal touches that made this wedding day so special. Kelsey’s dad grew the flowers that went in all of the table centerpieces, which were so cute! Kelsey’s mom handmade the flower girl dresses and a beautiful silk shawl for Kelsey! AND Kelsey’s two brothers and dad performed a beautiful song for Kelsey and Mark to kick off dancing at the reception – talk about a talented family! This wedding was such a fun day and I am so excited to share all of my favorites on the blog today!
