Oh my goodness, it’s National Puppy Day!!! Now, if only I had a puppy! Once I’m a full-time photographer, I’m definitely getting a puppy – you can hold me to it! I had so much fun looking back through my pictures from last year to find all the puppies! They’re all just so adorable, fluffy, cute, cuddly – I could go on and on!! This past year has been such a journey meeting and photographing so many beautiful dogs and these puppies are just a few of them! Puppy photoshoots are so much fun and even though it can definitely be a challenge to capture a portrait of an active puppy, the pictures always make my heart melt! The key with puppy pictures is having lots and lots and lots of patience. They’re always really excited and full of energy at the beginning of the session, so I always let the puppy run around and get out a lot of their energy! During this play time, I just try to take a backseat and use my 70-200mm lens, so that I can stay in one place while they run around and play. The 70-200mm allows you the leverage to zoom in and get close if they’re far away or zoom out if they’re close to you. Plus, you can still shoot with an f/stop at 2.8 to create a beautifully blurred, bokeh background. I just love these puppy pictures and can’t wait for more puppy shoots this spring! They grow up so fast, so make sure you document their tiny cuteness while it lasts! I still have some spring session availability and would love to meet your puppy!! 🙂
