All of my dog dreams came true this past week! Ever since Paul and I began planning our trip to Canada (which was only a little over a month ago), I have been dreaming daily about how to plan a dog session while we were out there. I searched so many different hashtags on instagram and reached out to a handful of people, but not knowing our schedule or really anything about Banff and Jasper, it made planning a session really difficult. Especially because most people live in Calgary, which was over an hour away from any of the beautiful lakes and mountains in Banff and even further from Jasper! So I began to let go of my dream little by little each day and was hoping I would run into a dog and owner who might be interested in a shoot while I was out there. Paul and I planned the rest of our trip, packed our things, and flew to what turns out to be one of the most amazing places! If you’re thinking of going to the Canadian Rockies, you absolutely need to! Banff and Jasper were some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen! The lakes were absolutely stunning and I still don’t understand how water can be that blue?!?!

So while we were in Canada, I kept an eye out for any dog that I could! And Paul also had an international plan on his iphone, so I continued to reach out to people as we started to figure our plans out and where a shoot could fit in! In my search, I found a dog training business who I decided to reach out to called Cultured Canines and was hoping they might have some clients who would be interested in a dog shoot. The owner, Beth, was so nice and so helpful! She sent out a blast to all of her clients while I was in Canada and quite a few people replied!! I was so excited!! But unfortunately, we were there during the week and everyone had to work (obviously) so we weren’t able to work anything out. I know you’re probably asking yourself, but I know there’s photos so how did she end up finding a dog?! Well, on our first day in Banff, we went to Moraine Lake for an early sunrise at 4:30am and spent the morning/afternoon there. Then we decided to go check out the town of Banff and it turns out, every Wednesday, they have an artisan’s market. We walked around checking out all the booths, bought ourselves a pie to eat later, and then found a dog treat stand! I began talking to the owner of Puppadore, Sarah, and asked if she had a dog herself and she did. I asked her if she was interested in a free photoshoot at Lake Louise and she was all in!! And the rest is history!! Sarah and her amazing pitbull, Kramer, met us the next night right around sunset at Lake Louise and she made all of my international dog photography dreams come true! Kramer was such a superstar and so well-behaved!! I’m absolutely in love with these images and am thinking that every time I travel somewhere, I have to plan a dog shoot!! So here are some of my favorites from Kramer’s mini session at Lake Louise!!!
